	My opinion is that foundations should concentrate their support on
young university faculty, i.e. new PhDs, doing basic research in the
field.  We elders are mostly well supported already, and industry is
pushing the applications vigorously.  It is particularly desirable
to be able to act quickly (NSF can't) in order to buy time for research
for young people who have just finished their PhDs.  Post-doctoral
fellowships are also a need.
